Nepenthes barcelonae (Ilocos Norte Province)
Nepenthes barcelonae (Ilocos Norte Province)
BE-3770. This species from the Philippines was only recently discovered in 2014. A controversial species, there is still some debate amongst taxonomists as to whether it’s a distinct species, or a form of N. ventricosa. Unlike ventricosa, it forms long, burrowing tendrils in the manner of N. sibuyanensis, but is vigorous and very prolific in it’s production of orange-red pitchers.
BE-3770. An exquisite species from Luzon in the Phillipines. Describes as Nepenthes aenigma due to its highland nepenthes unquie documented growth in deep shade at around 1200m elevation. There is debate if this Borneo exotic release is Nepenthes barcelonae, which I believe it is, however either way its is a stunning plant for any collection, bright red pitchers and extremely long tendrils. Will do well in intermediate - highland conditions.
